Voice Lessons - General Information |
I teach all styles of music to ages 8 and up, and prefer students to have had one year on another instrument such as the piano, to help with music reading. The teaching terms are usually early September to early January, and late January to early June, or students may start at their convenience. Parent sessions may be held to discuss exam, recital and/or festival requirements, and a year-end recital takes place at the end of the Spring session.
My method includes techniques to improve pitch, breath control and tone, the skills to safely warm up your voice, and handling sight singing and music theory. I am a tutor with the Canterbury vocal arts program.
I was granted a Teacher's Associate of Music Diploma from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music (since renamed Conservatory Canada) in 1998.
I am an active soloist and have been part of several notable choirs. Please e-mail me about my availability for solo and ensemble engagements, such as weddings, funerals and recitals.
I am a past president of the Gloucester Music Teachers' Association and a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA), Ottawa Region Branch, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Please email me for a consultation to discuss lessons or singing engagements. This page was last updated on June 27, 2006.
